The theme for VBS 2023 at FBC Newellton was Keepers of the Kingdom from Answers in Genesis. The children learned to put on the whole armor of God and be strong in the Lord! Our verses for the week were Ephesians 6:10-18 and we learned how to use our Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, and Sword of the Spirit to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Our average attendance for the week was 25.
Every day, the children participated in crafts and science experiments, played fun games at recreation, ate yummy theme-related snacks, sang and danced to music, learned about children in need in missions, and most importantly, had Bible study. Everyone got all dressed up in their medieval best for Royal Dress Up Day, competed in a Design Your Own Helmet contest, and met a lot of interesting animal pals.
During Missions, each day we met a different child in need from a different part of the world, and every day, we took up an offering to contribute to the Children’s Hunger Fund. This week, we raised $122.37, which will provide 489 meals for children in need! We hope that your children will continue to pray for those children that they’ve learned about as well as for others around the world who experience poverty, hunger, and disaster.
